#69 new defect
bootlogd failing to stop (bootlog module)
| Reported by: | jrollins | Owned by: | jrollins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Priority: | major | Component: | debirf |
| Keywords: | Cc: | ||
| Sensitive: |
Description
for some reason the bootlogd is failing to stop, and therefore not writing anything to it's log file:
... INIT: Entering runlevel: 2 Starting system log daemon.... Starting kernel log daemon.... * Not starting S.M.A.R.T. daemon smartd, disabled via /etc/default/smartmontools Stopping boot logger: bootlogd failed! Debian GNU/Linux lenny/sid debirf-resuce ttyS0 debirf-resuce login:
0 debirf-resuce:~# cat /var/log/boot (Nothing has been logged yet.) 0 debirf-resuce:~#
there's nothing in the syslog or kern.log to indicate why this might be happening.[]

this is popping up again, so it's still an issue.

So this doesn't appear to be an issue in squeeze builds.

weird. i tried a couple of boots of a fresh rescue debirf and the bootlogd stopped fine, and the bootlog is there and clean. maybe something was funky with that one build? will leave this open, but if it doesn't come back soon, i'll close this ticket.
i should also note that there's really not much in the bootlog, so i'm not sure how useful this module really is.
